Declaration 127 3.0 Signatory Page Now Open as Community-Led Revision Process Continues
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 5, 2026
Individual Heathens, Heathen kindreds and hearths, and both national and international Heathen organizations are invited to add their names to the latest Declaration 127 and participate in its continuing development.
The Declaration 127 Committee is pleased to announce that the signatory page for Declaration 127 3.0 is now open.
Individual Heathens, kindreds, hearths, fellowships, tribes, and organizations that support the principles of Declaration 127 are invited to sign the new version and be counted among the growing network of Inclusive Heathens committed to opposing discrimination, bigotry, and exclusion in Heathen communities.
The opening of the signatory page follows several weeks of discussion, feedback, and revision since the release of Declaration 127 3.0. During its most recent and best-attended meeting to date, the Declaration 127 subcommittee approved the sign-up process, established a system for processing new signatories, and agreed on several revisions intended to clarify the Declaration in response to concerns raised by members of the wider Heathen community.
Those updates reflect something central to the philosophy behind Declaration 127 3.0: inclusivity is an ongoing practice, and the Declaration itself should be capable of listening, learning, and growing.
The latest revisions preserve the Declaration’s core commitments while clarifying several areas where the original language created questions or uncertainty. Among other changes, the revised language more clearly distinguished opposition to discrimination based on devotional practice from any expectation that individuals must personally honor Gods or Beings they do not wish to honor.
It also broadened the discussion beyond particular traditions or Deities and emphasizes that people remain free to establish their own devotional relationships while respecting the religious lives of others.
This process has not changed the central purpose of Declaration 127. The Declaration continues to call on Heathens to actively resist racism, transphobia, sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, ableism, devotional discrimination, and other forms of exclusion, while building communities grounded in dignity, hospitality, reciprocity, accountability, and frith.
A Living Declaration With a Deliberate Process
The committee has also established a framework for future revisions.
Minor corrections, clarifications, and adjustments may continue to be made when necessary. More substantial changes, including major rewrites of entire sections, will generally be held for a period of approximately six months to one year before being considered.
This approach was intended to balance two important goals: allowing Declaration 127 to respond to thoughtful criticism and community experience while also giving the document enough stability for signatories to know what they are endorsing.
The Declaration 127 Committee welcomes continued participation in that process.
The committee saw the growing involvement surrounding Version 3 not as a problem to be solved, but as an encouraging sign that Heathens care deeply about what inclusive community should mean in practice. Declaration 127 has always been about more than placing a name beneath a statement.
It is about determining what kind of religious community we want to build together.
Signatories Will Join a Growing Network of Inclusive Heathens
Because the Declaration 127 Committee is a small volunteer team, new signatures will be reviewed and added in stages.
Initial processing will prioritize smaller Heathen groups and kindreds with established public or social-media presences. Other individuals and organizations will be added to the public signatory list as the committee is able to process submissions.
Once accepted, signatories will also receive access to the new Declaration 127 3.0 Discord group on the Coalition of Inclusive Heathen Organizations server.
The group will provide signatories with a space to:
- receive news and updates about Declaration 127;
- participate in conversations about future revisions;
- offer feedback as the document continues to develop; and
- connect and network with other Inclusive Heathens, kindreds, and organizations.
Declaration 127 began in 2016 as a direct response to racism and bigotry within modern Heathenry. Version 2 expanded that commitment into a broader statement against discrimination. Version 3 continues that evolution by calling not only for nondiscrimination, but for active participation in creating healthier, safer, and more inclusive Heathen communities.
As Declaration 127 3.0 states, inclusive community is not a “one and done” project. Neither is the Declaration itself.
The committee invites Heathens across traditions, organizations, and communities to read the Declaration, offer thoughtful feedback, sign if its commitments reflect their own, and help shape what comes next.
About Declaration 127
Declaration 127 takes its name from Hávamál 127 and its injunction to recognize evil, call it evil, and refuse to give it frith. First issued in 2016, Declaration 127 has developed from a denunciation of overt racism and transphobia into a broader commitment to confronting discrimination, exclusion, and harmful ideology throughout modern Heathenry.
Declaration 127 3.0 was developed by volunteers working through The Troth Community Relations Committee and approved for adoption and publication by the High Rede of The Troth on October 3, 2026.
