The Troth's 35th Anniversary | Letter from The Steer

A Letter from the Steer of The Troth, Lauren Crow

On December 21, 1987, a small group got together with a shared idea - to start a Heathen organization that promoted scholarship and creating Heathen communities across the world. Thirty-five years later, that mission continues as we strive to not just create community, but create inclusive, equitable, and just communities where everyone can feel welcome. While we still have work to do, I am confident that The Troth will continue to achieve this mission.

Over the past few years we have seen the power of community and the need to not just create the vast worldwide community that we have online, but also the deep importance and support of local communities to the mental and physical wellbeing of our world. The Troth is committed to the continued support of our local communities through our steward and clergy programs. In the coming months, we will announce further initiatives to help build and strengthen local Heathen communities.

Over the next year, expect to see some amazing changes within the organization.

  • A new website, logo, bylaws, and mission statement!
  • Expect more opportunities to interact with your fellow Troth members via online events and local gatherings!
  • Our brand new Discord server!

I want to personally thank all of the volunteers who have served this organization over the past 35 years. Without you, this organization would not be the thriving, inclusive community it is today. If you want to help shape the future of this organization, please consider volunteering! This organization belongs to every member.

As Steer, I am excited to see what the next thirty-five years will bring. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, my virtual door is always open.

In Frith,

Lauren Crow
