Addendum to the Troth’s Statement on Israel-Hamas War
APPROVED BY THE INTERFAITH COMMITTEE AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (11.21.2023)
The Troth calls for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and the return of the hostages held by Hamas. We call for an end to words and deeds that justify or encourage genocide or expulsion of Palestinians or of Jews. We call for the recognition of the human rights and dignity of the Palestinian people, a good faith return to peace negotiations and a solution that is just, equitable and acceptable to both parties and that guarantees the sovereignty, liberty and security of each.
We invoke Eir, Menglöð, Freyr Yngve and Njörd: bring peace and healing to this land and to these people and restore this earth to prosperity for all. And to Tyr: may the peace that is brokered be one based in justice, and that it will be honored by all.
