SUMMARY:Intuitive Rune Reading Class | Second Session
DESCRIPTION:Intuitive Rune Reading Class\nThis course will take place  September 9th\, 2023 at 2200 UTC or 5pm (1700) EST. \nThis course will feature heavily the modern tradition of research\, insight\, experiment and synthesis on the topic of runes that we’ve put together over the past few decades as well as my own personal opinions and interpretations. In addition to the literal translation(s) of a rune\, each has additional meanings based on its relationship to other runes in a reading\, personal experiences of the reader\, and the reader’s instinctual interpretation. \nThe goal of these classes is to familiarize students with this way of processing information from runes\, and to help expand each person’s library of meanings for each rune. \nNaNa will begin each session with an overview of their “rune story” for each aett.\nThese stories add momentum\, cohesion\, and broader themes to the whole runic alphabet. Then\, the class will have time to discuss how to tease out additional meanings for the runes and integrate them into readings. The first three classes will each cover one aett of the Elder Futhark\, and the fourth class will be for discussion of rune reading techniques and mechanics\, with an optional overview of the additional runes from the Younger Futhork. A year after recognizing that Loki had become a part of their life at\nsome point\, the runes presented themselves and quickly became the most comfortable\ndivination tool to use. Not only were runes intuitive to learn\, but the possibilities for\ninterpretation were infinite. \nOver the last ten years\, NaNa’s reading style has solidified and they now use the flexibility of\neach rune’s meaning to flesh out answers and build more cohesive interpretations. DESCRIPTION:About the Heathenry Essentials Study Chats\n\nWelcome to Heathenry (also known as Asatru). \nPerhaps you are beginning your journey as a Heathen. You may have friends or family that have become Heathen and you’d like to know more about it. It is our hope that\, as you work through the readings\, essays\, and sample questions\, you will develop a fuller understanding of Asatru and what it means to be Heathen in a modern context. This is a free resource available to the public as part of our continuing mission to educate and to serve. You can take this course without a membership in The Troth so that you can learn more about the basics of our faith. \nHow the Heathenry Essentials Study Chat Works\nThe first 60 to 90 min will be a discussion of the current subject chosen by those who attend the chat\, focused on the area of their interest. \nThis part will be recorded.  After the focused study chat\, the remaining time will be open for social hour. This part is not required to attend for participation in the study group\, you can drop off if you’d like.  This portion will not be recorded.  If being recorded causes privacy to be a concern\, feel free to join with the video blocked\, or an attendee can put up a neutral picture in their free Zoom account. DESCRIPTION:The Troth Meet & Greet: Come meet your new Ohio Steward\n\nI am putting a call out for like-minded all-inclusive Heathens\, Pagans\, or even those who are still curious or uncertain\, in the greater Dayton area to meet me on Friday the 8th of September (3:00pm-8:00pm) for a casual meet and greet\, so I may get to know our surrounding community.\n\nI hope anyone with the free time and within a comfortable distance can come introduce themselves\, their kindreds or groups\, and meet those of like minds for a few hours. I would enjoy spending time and hearing how you came along your Heathen path\, what you wish to see in Ohio’s greater community\, and anything else we might touch on as we get to know each other.\n\nI am Michael Brunswick and have been a pagan for the last 27-ish years\, heathen-ish for the last 4 years\, and Troth for just over a year. I have joined the Troth and volunteered for the position of Ohio steward to find community\, to be a point of contact for those who seek community\, and to do my very best to serve our community in all its needs.\n\n\n\nI chose to start in the greater Dayton area as it is closer to my home in Wapakoneta\, Ohio\, is a west central Ohio hub\, and has a large MetroPark area.\n\nWe will be meeting in Taylorsville MetroPark\, a park stating that it was one of the busiest crossroads in the country\, the meeting place of major transportation arteries – the Old National Road\, Great Miami River\, the Miami-Erie Canal and railroads. I found this as a very symbolic place to first meet. The Shelter will be the CCC Shelter on the east side of the park\, build in 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.\n\nThis rustic shelter has multiple rooms in case old friends or new wish to catch up\, a fireplace\, and access to trails if anyone desires a walk after.\n\n\n\nTaylorsville MetroPark\nShelter: CCC\n2101 U.S. 40\nVandalia\, Ohio 45377
